The Return of Operation Toy Train

There are holiday traditions that raise our spirits and prove to us that we can be kind and supportive to our neighbors and strangers. This is one such tradition.

Ten national heritage and tourist railroads, including the local Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson Railway, will once more participate in the “Operation Toy Train” charity fundraiser. Each train will host special donation bins to receive donations of new, unwrapped toys and games for children of all ages. These donations are then transferred to the United States Marine Corps’ “Toys for Tots” organization, who distributes the goods to those in need.

In our area, the Saratoga, Corinth & Hudson will collect toys and games at three stops along their route on November 15 – starting at the LaMonthe Landing station in Greenfield Center, then following up with a stop at the SC&H’s Corinth depot, and ending with a stop at the station’s northern terminus in Hadley. The schedule is listed below.

I attended the SC&H’s Operation Toy Train run last year, and it was a blast. And I’m sure it will be just as fun this year, so do not miss it.
